Prep and cook time: 60 minutes
Cannot be frozen
Serves: 8 – 10
Ingredients:
For the pastry:
- 250 g plain flour
- ½ tablespoon salt
- 100 g sugar
- 100 g butter, chopped
- 125 ml milk
For the filling:
- 2 tablespoon fine dried breadcrumbs
- 1 kg sour apples, peeled, cored and chopped into eighths
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 50 g sugar
- ½ tablespoon cinnamon
Method:
- Heat the oven to 180 C
- For the pastry, mix the flour with the salt and sugar. Cut in the butter and gently knead from a dough, adding enough milk so the pastry is smooth but not sticky.
- Divide the pastry into 2 and roll out both pieces. Butter the pan and line it with half of the pastry. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
- For the filling, mix the apples pieces with the lemon juice, sugar and cinnamon and place them on the pastry base. Lay the second pastry piece over the apple. Press the edges together well.
- Bake the pie for 40 minutes until golden brown. Sprinkle with a little sugar and serve lukewarm.
ENJOY! 🙂
